DAT Update #1

It's been about a month since I started studying for the Dental Admission Test and I thought I would write an update to how I'm progressing and how I feel about it so far.

As of now, I am nearly done reviewing for Biology, completely done with my review of General Chemistry, and finishing up my review of Organic Chemistry. I still have a bit to go with my first run through of the PAT and I often forget to do Math review each day!

So far I have taken some single section reading practice tests and I feel more confident after each successive test. For the PAT I was nervous to start studying for the Pattern Folding section. I just didn't know how to even start looking at those problems, but after learning some of the rules and tips for solving those types of PAT questions, I'm not so nervous about them anymore. I'm also improving with each progressive general chemistry practice test that I'm taking. I think that the most important thing to do to improve is to go over nearly ever question, no matter if you get it right or wrong. It's about knowing how to do the problem and why you got it right or wrong.

I've always been a little more nervous with my biology classes, and the same goes for the DAT. There is just so much information that is on there and so I could be presented with anything. I'm hoping that I just get exposure to TONS of questions and that will help me prepare for the test.

From here on out I am working to finish my review by the end of this week and also get the first half of the practice tests completed by the next two weeks. I think that this will give me enough time to go over five full length practice exams while also doing DAT destroyer questions. Three weeks at 25 questions a day per section should get me through Destroyer at least once for each section.

I'll update you all as I progress into the next week! My personal goal for studying is to start earlier as well. I've been starting late in the morning and would like to get up and started earlier in the day so that I can complete more study and review.

I still have a lot of work to do on my application, but I think that's okay because I'm not taking my test until July 2nd anyway and that's still considered being an "Early Applicant" from what I've read and heard.
