Laying the Foundation We are living in a time of unrest, and we are not sure when things will get better. If we are not careful, we can get caught up in the current of it all, it can take over our lives and fill us with uncertainty, fear, and/or doubt of the good and beauty we can find in God's great creation. The disciples are coming out of a similar situation. In Jerusalem during passover, the high festival of the year, there has been chaos that is stirring among the people of the city. Jesus has come into town and the powers in charge are extremely upset that he has come into town. This is where they hold sway, where they are in command and where nothing happens without their knowledge. What it is really like to be a resident advisor

Coming up on my second year of being a Resident Advisor, I thought that I would take note of some of the things that I learned in my first year. One of the first things that I learned was that I needed to reevaluate what I was doing on campus. My freshman year I had gotten involved in so many clubs on campus that I would often lose track of which ones I was involved in. I knew that rather than spreading myself thin, I would need to better account for my time in a lesser amount of organizations. To this extent, I also didn't work at the library my first semester being an RA, exactly because I wanted to see how my responsibilities would change. Training I went in to the job thinking that there would be so many tasks and responsibilities that were calling my name. Some Thoughts on John 1 The Prologue's Got it All. This Lent (a liturgical season of the Christian Church) at Evergreen we are going through the Gospel of John. This Sunday during our Ann Arbor Missional Community, we were talking about the first three chapters of John, and today, specifically the prologue of the gospel, found in verses 1-18. I started thinking during the teaching portion of our time together about how the prologue has the Gospel written inside of it, all while introducing the rest of John's book. Generally, if we want to break the prologue into it's 'paragraphs', we can separate out four different sections, all with such deep truths about who Jesus Christ is and what that means for us as followers of him. The Cosmological Christ Creates. Verses 1-5 starts out the Gospel with a beautiful combination of prose and poetry where the writer of John introduces us to the cosmic Christ.
